It’s striking that Homelander appears dark-skinned, though that’s just a joke. He leaves people feeling downhearted and offers them an unchanging existence within their comfort zones rather than using his laser vision destructively. His appearance seems to symbolize sadness! To be honest, I wouldn't mind spending my time indoors watching television and playing games while my father shouts from outside about how I’m squandering my life on a beautiful day—a day he's out cutting the grass, risking skin cancer, and missing out on a chance to make a great play in little league. Bring back Homelander's original look. The surprising thing is that every character falls short of expectations. Before seeing this movie, I figured it would be worse than watching three terrible Captain America films, one appealing Nightcrawler, and one youthful Black Widow battle crime. But they actually enable criminal activity while working together to confront their personal shortcomings and discover a path toward improvement through good deeds! Elaine is effective as the head of Vought, the comedy fits in naturally, and there’s enough happening to keep things moving during the relatively brief three-hour length. I suggest you don't take this positive assessment at face value until you’ve seen it yourself, because my enthusiasm stems partly from having very little hope going in, the film’s lengthy duration, and a considerable amount of absorbed pessimism.
