If you’re questioning whether or not this is another disappointment from Marvel, I can assure you that it isn’t. Virtually everything works well, including the action and the way mental health themes are handled. Let me explain… The action sequences earn a 10/10 – the fight choreography feels authentic and varies for each character involved. There's plenty of gunfire and explosions. What’s particularly good is that there isn't one of those typical, final sky beam moments. The writing deserves a 10/10 as well; nothing seems hurried, it moves along at a comfortable pace, and the characters seem to grow throughout the story. Acting gets an 8/10 – Yelena and Bob have some really good dialogue that feels genuine, and the actors do a solid job of showing what their characters are feeling. Casting is also a 10/10; it seems like each actor fits perfectly with their role. Yelena looks exactly as if she could have come from the Red Room. Red Guardian still appears imposing, but you can tell he hasn’t been actively involved in action recently. The same impression applies to Bucky. Humor is rated 8/10 – Red Guardian's comedic moments are hard to top, though that doesn't mean the other characters aren't funny too. Their timing isn't always perfect, but you will probably find yourself laughing on occasion. The message gets a 10/10; mental health is a recurring theme in this film. Yelena feels like she’s lacking purpose and takes these jobs to keep herself busy, while Bob seems trapped by his own inner struggles. The idea of moving toward positivity instead of succumbing to negativity is the central takeaway from the movie. If you really concentrate on what's happening, you will likely come away having gained some understanding about mental health. Overall, I’m giving this a 10/10; it’s something you absolutely should see.
