It was genuinely funny at a point when that’s exactly what I needed. Is there something wrong with that? I suspect many viewers—not just professional reviewers who feel obligated to see everything—began watching Thunder Force anticipating they would dislike it. Then, after only a few minutes, they quickly assigned it a poor score. While I wouldn't call this a 10-star film, or anything near it, I gave it that rating for the same reason some others chose a 1: simply because they could—take that! Seriously though, I wanted to contribute at least one of those dismissive one-star reviews. This isn’t meant to be taken as a deep superhero story; it's not something with a complex plot or intelligent commentary. It’s more like a wild and silly adventure full of physical comedy, which is Melissa McCarthy’s strength—a modern Lucille Ball evoking Harold Lloyd. The mostly young men who really tore this apart seem to view superheroes as an extremely important matter. Well, Marvel and DC, you've entered the Comedy Universe. I apologize if this film offends your sensibilities, just like we weren’t entirely sorry when My Spy upset fans of James Bond or John le Carré—or maybe we are. I rewatched the trailer and still laughed in the same spots as before. Sometimes life can be difficult, and as I mentioned, a good laugh is helpful. Should I check if this is still available on Netflix?
