It’s excessively long, but still almost enjoyable. I don’t really have any big complaints about *'This Is 40'* though. The performers are likely what kept me from disliking it. Paul Rudd (as Pete) and Leslie Mann (as Debbie) are appealing and capable in the central roles, while John Lithgow (as Oliver) and Albert Brooks (as Larry) make welcome appearances in this *'Knocked Up'* related film. The narrative includes some intriguing elements and has, barely, admirable goals, but it really does go on for too long. They could have conveyed the same message with about 30 to 40 minutes trimmed out. I simply wasn’t invested enough in the characters to want to spend so much time with them. As mentioned earlier, the actors do keep things moving along at a basic pace, and also, the soundtrack is quite good. It just didn't need to be stretched out as much, if you ask me.
