It’s disheartening that this movie fails to meet the Bechdel test, particularly given the year—though, sadly, it's pretty much what you expect from a standard action movie. The actresses were all quite good, but the script didn't offer them many opportunities; the narrative seemed entirely centered on the male characters. The attempts at humor are really awkward. There were easily more than ten jokes revolving around weight, and even if one is going to use that kind of material, they could have at least tried to be clever or original—most just consisted of insulting people’s appearances and then waiting for laughter. The constant repetition made me wonder whether the writer holds fatphobic views or is struggling with their own internalized biases; whatever the reason, it really detracts from the viewing experience.
