I recently got around to seeing the last installment of what’s been called the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy. To be honest, I'm not a huge enthusiast of the first two movies; they're decent films, certainly, but I've never felt quite as excited by them as many other people seem to have. *'The World’s End'* follows that pattern. For a while, I thought this one might really impress me, but it settles into a fairly even keel by the time the credits roll; *'Hot Fuzz'* (3½*) is still my favorite. As mentioned, I was genuinely enjoying the initial part of the film—I was appreciating its atmosphere. Then the plot twist arrives. It’s actually a really good twist, completely unexpected, but what comes after it isn't as satisfying. It provides some silly entertainment, nothing too substantial beyond that. The acting is very strong, possibly the best across all three films. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are naturally great, as expected, and Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan, and Rosamund Pike were good choices for the roles. David Bradley, Pierce Brosnan, and Bill Nighy appear as well.
