It's a passable romantic comedy, as these things go. There were moments of genuine humor and cleverness, though it didn’t rely on crude jokes as much as some films do—something I appreciated, especially after seeing comedies like *There’s Something About Mary*. I laughed out loud at portions of that earlier film, but I get uncomfortable when other movies attempt to replicate that style of humor. Initially, the actress playing the main character, Mara, brought Alicia Silverstone's Cher from *Clueless* to mind; however, she quickly developed her own distinct personality. The rest of the performers were adequate. It occasionally seemed like they were directed to lean into familiar tropes with exaggerated performances, but ultimately, they evolved beyond those stereotypes and came across as believable individuals who are treated with dignity rather than simply being targets for cheap jokes. I noticed a number of harsh reviews online about this movie, so it seems that some viewers have either stricter standards or higher hopes than I do. I don't watch romantic comedies expecting them to fundamentally change my perspective; what I’m looking for is humor, cleverness, and a spark between the two main actors.
