It's an enjoyable film that I’d gladly watch again and feel comfortable suggesting to others. Because it exists within the Shamallama-verse, this movie receives criticism regarding its "twist" and perceived intellectual complexity. However, even with knowledge of the “twist,” I still find it quite captivating. The fact that the main character is blind immediately grabs my attention because it often allows for unconventional cinematic elements and offers a welcome change for those who watch many films. Bryce Dallas Howard particularly carries much of the film's weight, though there’s a strong ensemble cast that all provide solid performances in their respective roles. The story isn't simply about a blind woman traveling through the wilderness; it's about the community she encounters. Stories centered on concepts bigger than an individual character sometimes fail to connect with audiences who prefer to become deeply invested in a protagonist and feel more significant than their surroundings. The initial idea of a "big bad wolf" lurking in the woods is intriguing, but the filmmakers took a different approach; these creatures almost function as a society, which makes werewolves seem like they might have been a better fit for the “monster” role. It’s possible you already know how things turn out, but if not, I recommend checking it out yourself, and even if you do, experiencing it firsthand is worthwhile.
