I was hoping to enjoy this film more than I did. The world it’s set in is captivating, the actors were well-chosen and deliver acceptable performances, and there are some beautiful visuals with a few truly outstanding moments captured on camera. The narrative begins promisingly, and we get a good sense of who the characters are early on. It seems like a positive start, right? However, that’s when things begin to unravel in the final section. There's an impression that they attempted to force an existing story onto the true events behind this film and were unable to successfully integrate them. The ending feels illogical, and certain character decisions and shifts in personality seem only justifiable with the explanation of needing to serve the resolution. It concludes in a way that leaves you feeling let down and wanting answers. Despite its merits, it ultimately descends from an encouraging beginning into something unremarkable.
