The character Flynn might’ve found a new group to call family, but he remains an irritatingly fussy person, and his father continues to be unstable. A tangled series of supposed secrets manages to keep the story somewhat interesting for a while. Walt Jr is unpleasant, as always, and delivers another disappointing performance. The actor playing him appears uncertain or upset. The film builds to a jumbled explanation involving past experiences and spectral figures that feels flimsy and doesn’t quite connect. It would have benefited from a scene featuring a car engine being revved.
