While occasionally feeling drawn out, *The Ugly Dachshund* manages to be enjoyable enough. The story itself doesn’t amount to much; the film’s strengths lie in its absurdity, humor, and performances—all of which are quite satisfactory. Dean Jones and Suzanne Pleshette provide amusement as Mark and Fran, and Charlie Ruggles (as Pruitt) and Kelly Thordsen (as Carmody) aren't bad either. The animal actors are precisely as charming as one might anticipate; scenes featuring them are frequently silly, bordering on illogical at times. It’s best experienced by simply letting go and embracing the chaotic nature of events—you will likely find it agreeable. It’s fortunate that the runtime is only 93 minutes, because a longer film would have probably earned a lower rating from me. As it stands though, I consider it to be good.
