This film doesn't measure up as a Mel Brooks effort, nor does it stand out among comedies from the sixties and seventies; there are certainly stronger examples of that era. It feels like a lesser version of Mad Mad Mad Mad World. The most engaging aspect was simply asking whether or not it held interest. The narrative is intricate, and the characters possess believable reasons for their actions. However, the adaptation to film didn't quite succeed in capturing its potential. I’d give it 1.5 out of a possible 3. Regarding entertainment value, the humor was occasionally amusing, but largely felt predictable or stretched too thin. That said, I don't consider this particularly memorable. The settings were nicely presented, and the performances exceeded what the script offered. Nevertheless, the slow pacing nearly put me to sleep two-thirds of the way through, and I found myself wanting to skip ahead during the final five minutes. I’d rate it a 1 out of 3 for enjoyment. The scoring system used was 1.5 + 1 + 1 = 3.5, plus an additional point as a default value, resulting in 4.5. Adjusting based on overall impression, the movie earns a 4. It’s not something I'd choose to watch again, and it felt like a bit of a waste of time.
