This film served as Jason Statham’s introduction to audiences, and it's an ideal fit for his persona. It's true that in many of his films, Statham simply embodies himself, which is precisely what viewers anticipate. The movie feels like Luc Besson’s take on a Jackie Chan action film, and surprisingly, this combination succeeds. While the sequence involving the BMW jump across a bridge was truly hard to watch, the rest of the experience is entertaining enough to overlook it—barely.
