The rabbit comes from his tent with the air of someone who’s ready to fight, while the tortoise seems much older and slower – and everyone watching is convinced they already know who's going to win. The rabbit sprints ahead and even pauses for a sleep. His competitor quietly moves past him, only to be easily caught again, letting the self-satisfied hare have time to chat with some female rabbits observing from above a wall, clearly believing he’s won. He plays baseball and tennis against himself, essentially just showing off! Meanwhile, as the tortoise nears the finish line, the rabbit has to hurry up – otherwise something unexpected could occur. The animation moves along quickly, although it feels a bit over-the-top at times, but the rabbit's arrogance and the tortoise’s determination work well in an interesting story about not assuming anything, no matter how sure you feel.
