The film has some noteworthy and fairly bold elements, but it’s a rather inconsistent science fiction thriller, and the special effects are similarly variable—ranging from reasonably striking considering how long ago it was made (around 20 years) to noticeably poor quality. Guy Pearce delivers a solid performance as the main character. Watching this also brought to mind a period when Orlando Jones appeared in quite a few films, specifically between 1998 and 2004. I’m not entirely sure how else to put it, but it did manage to hold my attention. **3.0/5**
