Armin Mueller-Stahl’s character, “Fuller,” has made a significant discovery and feels uneasy about sharing it with his partner, "Hall" (Craig Bierko), because he fears for his safety. Fuller chooses to leave a letter for him and store it within their digitally created alternate reality—a setting that evokes the style of a Fritz Lang film. When Fuller’s colleague turns out to be murdered, "Hall," now considered the main suspect, must follow the clues left behind by his friend while also trying to recover the invention from its virtual location. I appreciated how straightforwardly this drama handled its shifting timelines; there's no need for viewers to strain themselves or become overwhelmed by the changing visuals, which allows the underlying crime thriller aspects to shine through. While no single performer delivers a particularly memorable performance, the group dynamic and some sharp observations about our increasing reliance on technology prove quite successful in maintaining a compelling narrative. The ending also takes an unexpected turn, and overall, this is a rather good effort at exploring early multi-verse concepts that functions remarkably well.
