Carol Reed directed and Graham Greene wrote *The Third Man*, which features Joseph Cotton, Alida Valli, Trevor Howard, and Orson Welles. Anton Karas composed the music, and Robert Krasker was responsible for the cinematography. When writer Holly Martins (Cotton) goes to Vienna to meet up with his old friend Harry Lime (Welles), he’s upset to learn that Harry died in a car crash. After attending the funeral, Holly starts to suspect that it wasn't an accident and tries to clear his friend's name. But things aren't what they initially appear..... More than six decades after its release, Carol Reed's film noir thriller still feels remarkably fresh and stands up to intense examination. It’s a disturbing story, with the black market criminals and those who were manipulating penicillin leaving a bad feeling, but the director’s skill in creating an unsettling atmosphere through style and deliberate pacing elevates it even further. The performances are outstanding from everyone involved, contributing both iconic imagery and playful storytelling. The narrative unfolds against a backdrop of post-war Vienna, which mirrors the brokenness of the characters. A network of damp, stone streets provide locations for chases involving people and long shadows; there's a fairground scene that has now become legendary, serving as a witness to the commonplace nature of evil, and naturally, those vast sewers, filled with gloomy sounds. Reed uses tilted camera angles, where moral decline is prevalent, alongside a dose of confusion to satisfy even the most dedicated noir fans. Krasker employs expressionistic light and shadow while Karas’s music lingers in your ears forever. A murder mystery, a sorrowful romance, and an exciting film noir, *The Third Man* remains impressive because of its qualities. The cuckoo clock and cat, a shadowy doorway, and the solitary, mournful walk of a woman—it still entertains serious moviegoers and is studied by filmmakers everywhere. *The Third Man*, it's truly a masterpiece. 10/10
