The Thicket attempts a Western feel and benefits from solid acting by Peter Dinklage and Juliette Lewis, though it doesn't manage to make the most of its story or underlying ideas. A shortage of developed characters and some extra storylines lessen the power of what’s happening at the center of things, and director Elliott Lester doesn’t create any action sequences that really stick with you. Guillermo Garza’s photography does capture a sense of being in an older Western, but it might not be enough to satisfy those who already enjoy the genre. Rating: C+
