It’s evident that this version falls short of its potential. It doesn’t come close to matching the original film’s ability to frighten, largely because the characters are difficult to connect with. As a result, there's no sense of suspense; what's intended to be frightening simply comes across as uninspired sound and jarring noises. Had the filmmakers managed to create an emotional bond between the viewers and the people on screen, perhaps things could have turned out differently, but that didn’t happen here. The production values are solid, and it certainly looks polished, but this doesn't live up to what one would expect from a series of this kind. It’s definitely among the lesser entries.
