It’s enjoyable enough that I could see myself watching it again, and I feel comfortable suggesting it to others. I honestly couldn’t tell you what just unfolded; after seeing the version released in 2020, it doesn't appear significantly improved, and there isn't much available explaining what's going on. The practical effects are reasonably well done, and there's a good amount of action involving a machine pursuing a woman who is assisted by a soldier sent from the future. Arnold Schwarzenegger carries quite a bit of the film’s emotional weight as a detached cyborg, but Linda Hamilton helps to balance things out. I don’t believe it’s Michael Biehn’s shortcoming, but Kyle Reese doesn't leave much of an impression. The movie’s thematic focus is primarily on time travel and the possibility of altering what’s yet to come. It’s a worthwhile film, though it didn't quite reach that extra level of distinction for 2020, and its significance seems greater as a lead-in to the next installment.
