However, I really appreciate the original movie's gritty, dark science fiction horror feel—though it does highlight how much the subsequent films fell short. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s portrayal of the Terminator is a stroke of genius. Any limitations he may have had as an actor in the 1980s are completely overshadowed by the fact that his character is supposed to be a detached, emotionless machine. And just picture someone with his appearance pursuing you! It's not simply about the weapons he carries or his virtually indestructible metal frame; Schwarzenegger already embodies a mechanical presence. The actors convey a sense of genuine fear from being pursued by him. _The Terminator_ ranks among the best movies I’ve encountered, and that’s saying something, given how many films I’ve watched. _Final rating:★★★★½ - Exceptionally captivating.
