The newest Disney Channel Original Movie of 2016 draws its story from a book with a familiar premise. The idea of body swapping has been done many times, and one might think, "Not again." However, this film isn’t terrible; it starts with an accident and then shows the effort to return to how things were. While trying to fix that, they have to deal with certain situations, which is essentially what the movie explores, all set within a modern context. It centers on two high school sophomores, Ellie and Jack. When their lives become difficult, they coincidentally text the same wish, and it unexpectedly comes true. They quickly understand their predicament and agree to live each other's lives until they can figure out how to reverse what happened. The story unfolds with moments of both humor and tenderness, leading up to an ending that reveals whether or not they’ll manage to go back to normal. I’ve seen body swapping explained through ancient powers before, but this takes a simpler approach, using an app as the cause – something reflective of what kids are into these days. It's a familiar concept, yet the narrative felt somewhat different. While adults might find it fairly ordinary, children will likely enjoy it. It’s intended to be a Halloween movie, though released quite early in the season. Viewership has been low for Disney Channel Original Movies over the last ten years. I am a fan of Disney's theatrical films but not as engaged with their television productions; therefore, I don't recognize many of these actors, although I believe they performed well. The positive aspect is that it’s not a poor film, and from almost every age group’s point of view, it’s an acceptable one. Children should definitely watch this, but adults might want to look into it further before deciding to see it. _6/10_
