The Suicide Squad managed to live up to the excitement surrounding DC’s group of flawed characters. It felt less like a direct continuation and more like a fresh start, as if the previous film was being disregarded. The action sequences were incredibly intense and wonderfully violent, featuring a great ensemble cast. They didn't hesitate to eliminate the initial squad right from the beginning! I wasn’t particularly shocked by this, since they weren't featured prominently in later trailer glimpses. However, Captain Boomerang’s death did surprise me—he seemed like such an important part of the group! I also would have liked to see more development for Savant and learn about his past. Instead, he came across as a bit of a coward who was only capable of killing small birds. But Rick Flagg's demise really took me by surprise. Idris Elba and John Cena were fantastic as Bloodsport and Peacemaker, respectively. King Shark was also genuinely funny—even more so than Groot, since he actually speaks more than just a few words; "hand" was definitely my favorite line! I had some reservations at first, but I ended up getting really invested in the story.
