They’re where we all come from. The yolk is shown, full and shining, then abruptly punctured—not by cutlery, but by a needle. It's filled with meaningful, bizarre body horror imagery, and director Coralie Fargeat rightfully received the Best Screenplay award at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Describing it as “brave” doesn’t even begin to cover it; it's an incredibly bold and shocking look at what society expects from women—particularly as they get older—and how ridiculous those expectations are.
