Sonny Chiba’s character choices prioritize financial gain over ethical considerations, and his performance is remarkable. He embodies a force that seems more animal than human; an unrelenting and violent figure. The movie evokes the feel of a 1970s American exploitation film, setting it apart from typical martial arts movies. It features a distinctive musical score and conveys a sense of gritty realism. The fight sequences are exceptionally well-done and quite brutal at times. One memorable scene shows a man’s head injury via an x-ray, while another depicts Sonny removing a man's clothing in a shocking manner. The story centers on Sonny versus the mob, but firearms are notably absent. It’s simply enjoyable to watch and distinguishes itself from other martial arts movies. There are two additional films that aren't bad, but this one is superior. It's worthwhile just for Sonny's captivating screen presence; it almost seems as if he believed Bruce Lee was being too gentle in his roles!
