A man named John Wayne portrays Travers, accompanied by his friend "Yak" (played by Yakima Canutt), who even has a few lines of dialogue, when they come across a small community where the sheriff has been shot by someone from the “Shadow” group. Wanting to put an end to this disorder, he steps into the role of the deceased lawman and quickly begins pursuing the mysterious leader. There’s a good amount of action sequences, a deceptive chamber, "Gabby" Hayes brings some lightheartedness, and Verna Hillie appears as the female lead, while Duke gets nearer to his quarry... It doesn't offer anything particularly original; the film feels rushed, and both the plot and writing aren’t especially noteworthy, with the villain’s identity being quite obvious.
