March 1965. During the height of the Cold War, the United States and the Soviet Union were competing to achieve dominance in space. Both superpowers wanted to be the first to put a person into orbit. To reach this goal, no risk or expense was considered too great. It is within this context that an unlikely pair—an experienced veteran and a reckless test pilot—volunteer for this mission. Two men inside a tiny spacecraft, one that had not been properly tested, then confront the unknown… They are expected to accomplish what no other person has done before. And nobody anticipates what will actually happen…
