It’s easy to imagine pondering what makes Earth so special while watching this movie. It isn't necessarily a fantastic film, but it stands out as unique and entertaining. The narrative feels appropriate for the current human drive toward space exploration; something once considered pure fantasy now seems within reach. There have been many films exploring humanity’s relationship with Mars, but this one offers a different perspective. It centers on a romantic theme—though not in the traditional sense of cultures colliding—it's more like Mars encountering Earth: the story of a boy from Mars and a girl from Earth. That’s how it concludes, although that wasn't the starting point. The film follows the boy as he seeks a connection with Earth, leading to familiar plot elements such as pursuit and danger. The movie is well-crafted; the script isn’t overly complex, but the ending has a surprise I didn’t find particularly impactful. Everything is explained in detail, and certain scenes seem deliberately included to foreshadow later developments when the story takes an unexpected turn. The casting was excellent. Britt Robertson portrays a character ten years younger than her actual age, but it doesn't detract from her performance; she still appears like a teenager. Asa Butterfield also delivers a solid performance. What felt commonplace about the film was the adventure aspect, although it avoids typical tropes. It’s unlike anything I’ve seen before—that's where its strength lies. The ending was satisfactory, but I got the sense that it was toned down to cater to the expectations of a PG13 audience rather than serving the story organically.
