It’s an acceptable supernatural thriller; I imagine that with someone like Guillermo del Toro directing, it could have been truly excellent, but as is, the story feels slow-moving, even considering its relatively brief length of around eighty-five minutes. Still, Freya Tingley was a welcome addition as the lead actress. The movie has some unsettling moments scattered throughout, and while the ending felt slightly underwhelming due to some weak visual effects, it still managed to have a few genuinely frightening scenes. I’d suggest renting it, because my personal interest in the violin—which plays an important role in the story—probably made me enjoy it more than others might. **3.0/5** I'm not certain if this was Rutger Hauer’s final film appearance, but his part is quite small.
