It’s an okay film; it’s unlikely I’ll revisit it, though I could suggest it to someone. Once more, Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays are the highlights of "The Smurfs," and this installment features even more human characters that divert attention from the Smurfs themselves. The Naughties also contribute to this distraction, but at least they add some intrigue and enhance the narrative surrounding the Smurfs rather than completely overshadowing it. This time, the filmmakers attempted something noteworthy by centering the plot around Smurfette, albeit not entirely successfully. This shift allows Gargamel, the Naughties, the Smurfs, and the humans (appearing intermittently) to concentrate on her, making the film primarily about the Smurfs, even though, as mentioned within the movie itself, Smurfette and the Naughties aren’t precisely identical to the others. (This point is open to debate, considering it's conceivable that all Smurfs are magically generated.) The themes of acceptance, unity, and family feel considerably more impactful in this film compared to the initial one, as well as Gargamel’s comedic antics and his celebrity status. I don’t really connect with this movie series, but it's evident that the films performed adequately enough to justify their production quality.
