Following 'Hateship Loveship,' I was hoping to see something similar featuring Kristen Wiig. It centers on a brother-sister dynamic. The two central figures are twins who share many similarities. The narrative gets going when they reconnect after ten years of separation, and the situation is unusual because both characters are struggling with depression and have attempted suicide—unsuccessfully. From there, we’re shown how they begin to piece together their shared past as they try to navigate their current lives. However, old patterns persist, and they face significant choices by the story's conclusion. It’s an uncommon film, largely humorous in its portrayal of the twins' connection, with errors being central to the storyline. The characters' downturns and recoveries were skillfully interwoven throughout. A strong element was the acting; Wiig and Hader are well-suited for their parts given that the story involves twins. I haven’t previously seen Bill Hader in such a prominent role—he’s typically been a supporting player, but here he is one of the main characters, much like Timothy Spall in 'Mr. Turner.' The two leading actors were truly excellent in this film. However, the slow pace might be an obstacle for some viewers. If you can get past that, it offers enjoyable entertainment; otherwise, it could feel tedious and even become a contender for worst movie of the year. Ultimately, while it doesn’t quite reach excellence, I'd say it's simply a good film—worth seeing, but not something likely to stick with you for very long. 6.5/10
