Bruce Willis leads the cast in M. Night Shyamalan’s supernatural drama and mystery. A therapist—played by Bruce Willis—attempts to assist a young boy (Haley Joel Osment) who possesses an unusual ability, or perhaps a problem, that causes others to label him as strange. Olivia Williams portrays the therapist's spouse, while Toni Collette takes on the role of the boy’s mother. "The Sixth Sense," Shyamalan's initial widely recognized work, was released in 1999 and is a deliberately paced drama incorporating supernatural aspects. My wife and I initially experienced the film with very little knowledge beyond the widespread praise it received; the conclusion genuinely produces an impactful reaction. Upon revisiting the movie after knowing the central plot point, I questioned whether it would still be effective, and it remains so. Although some portions of the story feel somewhat drawn out, it offers a welcome change from current big-budget films that rely on frequent action sequences. The film is also visually appealing, enhanced by its distinctive settings in Philadelphia and surrounding areas. It’s worthwhile to observe how Shyamalan managed to conceal the plot twist so effectively. The runtime is 1 hour and 47 minutes. GRADE: B
