It’s mostly agreeable. *The Shepherd: Border Patrol* functions as a decent, uncomplicated action movie. Jean-Claude Van Damme (as Jack) is the main draw, although Natalie J. Robb (Capt. García) delivers a reasonable performance. The villains, however, are very stereotypical and their actions are easy to anticipate. The film tries to incorporate some serious and meaningful plot threads that don’t really mesh well together, and any surprises it offers aren't particularly unexpected. Still, if you accept it for what it is – a ninety-five minute fight—you can likely find something to appreciate in it. Fans of this type of movie will probably approve of the 2008 film directed by Isaac Florentine.
