The premise involves a teenager who traps a creature in a shed somewhere in Upstate New York. This independent horror film from 2019 borrows ideas from well-known movies—like the farmhouse siege of “Night of the Living Dead,” characters reminiscent of “The Warriors,” the outcast character seen in "Christine," and the vampire themes found in “Fright Night.” The technical aspects are handled competently, and Jay Jay Warren is effective as the lead. Sofia Happonen also makes a memorable impression. However, the movie suffers from some unnecessary scenes, which make it feel somewhat flat and lacking substance. Despite this, it's watchable enough for what it is. If you’re looking for an independent film with a comparable concept but more originality, “The Unhealer,” released the year after, might be worth checking out. The movie has a running time of 1 hour and 37 minutes and was filmed in north-central New York, specifically Manlius (filmed at what’s described as grandpa’s house) and East Syracuse (the high school).
