Tavuz Turgul’s cinematography is truly exceptional in this film. Istanbul serves as a backdrop—an iconic setting—and every character seems engaged in a personal battle for survival. The city and the passage of time appear to erode their distinctiveness daily. Shared aspirations require considerable effort and dedication, often spanning many days. Finding love proves challenging within that environment, and I don’t see it as an inherently negative situation. Istanbul is evolving into something unlike its former self; that much is certain. There are also positive developments—new elements that feel encouraging. The film incorporates a significant reference to the traditional “Gölge Oyunu-Karagöz” performance style, where two characters constantly debate a fabricated issue created solely for entertainment. As someone who embraces revolutionary ideals, I can’t accept the movie's suggestion of inescapable decline into capitalism.
