Michael Douglas portrays “Garrison,” an agent deeply involved in the US Presidential Secret Service detail, to a degree that even his superior isn't fully aware of. Following the murder of one of their own and with the G8 summit approaching in Canada, information surfaces regarding a plot against the President. "Breckinridge," played by Kiefer Sutherland, suspects Garrison’s longtime friend is responsible for significant security breaches. His former protégé then initiates an inquiry that carries potential risks, forcing Garrison to neutralize some agents assigned to protect him and begin his own hunt for the mole within the organization. While Sutherland delivers a serviceable performance, most of the supporting cast and the script itself feel uninspired as this thriller progresses in a predictable fashion over nearly two hours, prompting questions about how anyone shielded by these individuals could survive even a simple routine. Eva Longoria attempts to inject some energy into the proceedings as an agent who trusts Garrison, and Kim Basinger makes brief appearances; she may have recognized the disappointing constraints of her part. Overall, it’s a forgettable production that doesn't showcase Douglas at his best, presenting a familiar narrative we've seen countless times before. It feels like typical television programming, and I suspect it won’t leave much of an impression afterward.
