I found this to be quite enjoyable, considering the somber and depressing nature of the narrative. *The Selfish Giant* is a raw drama centered on two young boys who become entangled with dangerous people. Initially, I feared it would devolve into a predictable story relying on tired stereotypes about disadvantaged families. It does occasionally fall into that trap, but for the most part avoids it. The acting isn't exceptional, although Conner Chapman (as Arbor) and Shaun Thomas (as Swiftly) deserve recognition for their commendable performances, particularly given the challenging subject matter they portray. Sean Gilder is also good in his role as Kitten, and the rest of the cast delivers acceptable work. The film has a powerful emotional impact and is genuinely heartbreaking, especially during the final section. I would suggest watching it.
