Right from the opening moments aboard the ship, as Jacob and the others started speaking, I honestly expected someone to call "Cut!" and expose the whole thing as a movie set. That didn't occur, though, and they kept on talking with such an affected way of speaking 🥲. The central theme explored in this film isn’t particularly fresh; it feels familiar and even somewhat overused, having appeared in numerous other films. While the animation is decent, it doesn’t really distinguish itself when put alongside studios like Disney or Pixar—nothing especially noteworthy there. My biggest issue with this movie lies with the screenwriting. There was an excessive amount of dialogue, and the narrative's progression felt mechanical, almost as if generated by something like GPT. It was incredibly dull, completely predictable, and noticeably short on originality. The characters appeared underdeveloped, and their connections to one another seemed equally superficial. It was difficult to accept that actual human writers were responsible for it, which is a strange coincidence given the screenwriters' strike happening at the time. I can’t suggest anyone see this film, and I certainly won’t be revisiting it myself—I’d probably just doze off. My rating is 5 out of 10.
