MustachedMovieMan on The Sea Beast

I’m genuinely impressed; this ranks among the very best animated films I've encountered, right alongside the Spider-Verse movies! I was so captivated by what I was seeing that I felt compelled to keep my eyes glued to the screen. The animation is simply gorgeous. Animating water effectively is famously challenging, and the animators involved in this film make it appear effortless. From the very beginning, I found myself completely immersed in the story's setting, and I really enjoyed the pirate-style adventure that kicks things off. The world feels richly developed, and the characters are well-drawn – particularly the three main ones. Jared Harris delivers a fantastic performance as Captain Crow, Karl Urban is superb as Jacob, and Zaris-Angel Hator does wonderful work portraying young Maisie. I’ve noticed some comparisons to other movies being made, which I consider a positive thing. _The Sea Beast_ takes what works best from those films while still offering a unique and captivating story. This film is thoroughly enjoyable; it's visually stunning, features characters you root for, and has plenty of humor – plus, the score by Mark Mancina is excellent. I wholeheartedly suggest checking it out. I can personally say that this makes a great pairing with Netflix’s _One Piece_. ⚠️ There's a line of dialogue that's easy to miss, but one crewmember tells a child it would be preferable to accept harm than to question an order from the captain. While acceptable if spoken between adults, hearing an adult say this to a child felt jarring and raised some concerns. The context is that it’s a pirate threat, which somewhat softens the impact, but it remains something potentially troubling and not appropriate for someone to say to a child.
