Emerging from "The Mummy Returns," this somewhat rigid and awkward story follows “Mathayus” (Dwayne Johnson), an “Akkadian”—essentially a Mesopotamian warrior—as he attempts to depose the oppressive king “Memnon” (Steven Brand). Memnon maintains his power with the help of a sorceress capable of foretelling events, portrayed by Kelly Hu in what seems like an effort to emulate Jane Seymour. The narrative feels incredibly predictable and doesn’t offer much that's new or surprising. While there are moments intended to be amusing, they lack any real finesse. Ultimately, it serves primarily as a showcase for the lead actor, who is physically impressive but otherwise unremarkable.
