It’s surprising to think that, given the history of films like _The Mummy_ and _The Mummy Returns_, it was actually _The Scorpion King_ that ended up getting further installments in the years following its 2002 release. That is, unless you've seen _Tomb of the Dragon Emperor_. While _Scorpion King_ manages to provide a little bit of the over-the-top entertainment it had the potential for, I do find myself wishing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had been cast as Mathayas with the kind of energy he brought to the _Fast & Furious_ movies. _Final rating:★★ - There were elements that resonated with me, but ultimately the movie didn’t quite come together._
