Sitting through _The Saint_ was a strange experience; it didn’t come across as a film at all, more like an installment of a television series from a bygone era that I missed entirely. A little digging revealed why – the project began life as a pilot for a planned TV show in 2013, produced by Roger Moore and intended to evoke older styles. It was later reworked into a video-on-demand movie in 2015, but remained unreleased until recently, seemingly timed to coincide with Roger Moore’s passing earlier this year. The production choices throughout are baffling, notably reducing the role of fan favorite Eliza Dushku to essentially background status for almost the entire runtime. _The Saint_ seems determined to make questionable decisions. _Final rating:★½: - Boring/disappointing.
