It’s one of those movies where you really need to switch off your critical thinking skills. At a showing in London recently, we weren't allowed to throw spoons—or even speak out, though people certainly tried—and that says something. The not particularly appealing “Johnny” (Tommy Wiseau) shares a home with his attractive fiancée "Lisa" (Juliette Danielle), who finds herself drawn to the more conventionally handsome "Mark" (Greg Sestero). Will their secret be discovered? Can things go back to normal? Naturally, the writing is terrible, the intimate moments are filmed in a blurry way that’s almost a blessing, and the music is so incredibly cheesy that it encourages an unusual amount of audience interaction. It's simply awful; there's really no other description for it—though it remains surprisingly entertaining (with a few bottles of wine and some vodka). Carolyn Minnott brings a genuine sincerity to her role as mother "Claudette," too. The production values are low in practically every aspect, but that might be why it has gained such a devoted following. If you set your expectations incredibly low, you’ll still probably overshoot the mark!
