It had been quite a while since I watched this film, but hearing James Horner's music at the beginning immediately brought everything back. It’s an appealing adventure that blends various elements of 1920s America – gangsters, early aviation, and romance – into a story about the conflict between right and wrong, alongside some advanced technology; there are even Nazis involved! While Bill Campbell is mostly cast for his appearance, he does bring some enjoyment as the reckless protagonist, "Cliff." He discovers a rocket suit created by Howard Hughes and decides to learn how to use it. Simultaneously, Timothy Dalton plays ("Neville Sinclair"), a British actor who’s clearly imitating Errol Flynn and others, and is willing to give money to criminals if they can get him the device. After that point, it develops into a straightforward chase between good guys and bad guys. The script isn't overly complicated or surprising; there are some impressive visual effects and well-executed aerial sequences, plus a memorable performance from Alan Arkin helps keep things moving forward smoothly.
