This was genuinely enjoyable. *The Rocketeer* turned out to be better than I initially thought; I wasn’t anticipating much based on the first few minutes. Fortunately, it manages to deliver a fun viewing experience lasting about 108 minutes. It features a cool hero, a wonderful musical score, and a cast of characters that are easy to root for. The storyline is pretty wild, particularly as things progress, but they manage to pull it off, which should be commended. There are several familiar actors appearing in the film, and all of the key performers deliver strong performances. Billy Campbell takes on the lead role of Cliff. I’ve only just discovered him through television's *Cardinal*—which is excellent, by the way, if you get a chance to watch it—and really liked his work there; he’s also quite good here. Jennifer Connelly (Jenny) and Alan Arkin (Peabody) are also part of the cast, along with Paul Sorvino (Eddie) and Timothy Dalton (Neville). I especially enjoyed Dalton's performance; he embodies his character effectively. The film moves at a consistent pace, helped by the impressive action sequences and James Horner’s score. Overall, this is a movie I would happily suggest; it ranks considerably higher than many of Disney’s live-action films released before 1991.
