The actions of the main characters have very little effect on what happens in the film, and nearly everything about it feels absurdly silly. It’s possible to see the seeds of the clichés that would later define Michael Bay's filmmaking here, but despite all that, I still find myself enjoying _The Rock_. Perhaps it’s simply because it stands out from his other movies, or maybe because it was among the first ones I watched as a child, but I do appreciate it. I won't try to argue its merits, just revisit it every few years. _Final rating:★★★ - I liked it. I would suggest checking it out._
