The main actors are pleasant enough to watch, although one character feels a bit grating, and the Hawaiian locations look beautiful. However, viewers will have to wait nearly an hour—specifically, forty-eight minutes into its seventy-five-minute length—before anything remotely unsettling begins. Once the supernatural elements appear, beyond a single graphic moment of violence, they fail to create any real suspense. A drawn-out police investigation sequence presented as a flashback doesn’t improve things either.
