The Requin really suffers because of its lead actress and what seems like an incredibly limited budget—it's hard to believe they could even get water for a shark film. The presence of someone with experience in films would have helped this movie stand out from other low-budget shark movies, but it didn’t. Actually, the main character ended up being the worst thing about it! Her panicked yelling, angry reactions, and attempts at emotional scenes made actors who usually appear in lesser shark movies seem far more appealing. It's hard to believe how irritating her acting was. Also, the green screen effects were obvious and used too much, which had me questioning whether they even managed to include any actual water. I’m honestly taken aback that the same director also did The Princess, a genuinely enjoyable action film. What went wrong with this one? The Requin isn't just poorly made; it’s a disappointing entry in the shark movie genre. It’s not worth your time.
