This film has drawn very different reactions from viewers. It’s certainly not a flawless piece of work, but I wouldn't describe it as terrible either. I’ve seen reviews labeling this “the worst shark movie ever” and calling it an unproductive use of time. While the movie isn't without problems, that seems like an extreme assessment. Those criticisms likely refer to the final portion or perhaps the entire film, since the sharks don't really appear until later on – which I actually see as a positive thing. It’s true that the computer-generated sharks aren't visually impressive, particularly towards the end. It seems possible that the visual effects artists didn't have enough time to refine them. And (*spoilers*), the conclusion—where a shark is defeated by eating an anchor—feels like it was borrowed from "The Shallows." Despite this, there are some genuinely good (and even exceptional) elements present. Although the third act struggles and loses its way, the narrative itself is solid, and the sequence leading up to the characters being marooned at sea, along with the mounting tension as their resources and protection dwindle in almost every scene, is handled effectively. The photography, especially early on, looks beautiful and polished.
