This installment in the series, *The Reef: Stalked*, manages to depict and involve the shark in inventive ways that are missing from many cheaper shark movies. *The Reef: Stalked* is a well-made, straightforward shark film. Though the number of deaths isn’t as high as I prefer, the director succeeds in creating terror and having the shark attack characters in various ways beyond simply pulling them underwater. The scenes where people die carry more weight because the movie shows the shark's attacks instead of just having victims vanish to save money. Despite some uneven performances and a few moments that feel like awkward accidents into the water, the characters generally make sensible choices and actively try to defend themselves rather than passively becoming prey. I found *The Reef: Stalked* considerably better than the first one; it's not necessary to have seen that earlier film to appreciate this one. It doesn’t quite reach the level of quality as *The Shallows*, but it’s a worthwhile watch for those who like shark movies.
